European mole
Talpa europaea
It is a small mammal of underground habitats, found in areas of meadows and some forests.
The front legs are shovel-shaped, with long, strong nails well adapted for digging. It is easy to locate by the mounds of soil that mark the route of its galleries, which can reach almost 200 meters.
It feeds on earthworms, slugs, insect larvae and spiders.
